Blog 5: Project Reflection and Working EQ

(1) Positive Statement: What positive thing happen as a result of what you have completed so far?
-A positive thing that has happened as a result of what I've completed so far is that I'm being pushed to come out of my "comfort zone". For example, the whole concept of finding place to volunteer and finding someone to interview on your own is kind of scary to someone who is shy. Especially having to contact them on your own. So this is an extremely positive outcome that is helping me improve getting out of my comfort zone.

(2)EQ Content: Pick a piece of research or your interview. How has it helped improve your understanding of your topic?

-My interview actually helped me understand my topic better. For the interview I interviewed one of the supervisors at Priceless Pets Rescue. The thing that stood out to me the most was when I asked her who else should I talk too and she told me to get the "other side of the story". She suggested I talk to say the Humane Society to see the other side. Something I had not even thought of.

(3)What has worked for you so far in the senior project?

-Something that has worked for me in the senior project so far is doing research checks in class on Fridays. This has especially worked for me because I get more done during class than at home. Plus let's be honest, I think everyone would prefer to do it in class than at home.
(4)What hasn't worked so far?
-So far everything has worked.

(5)Finding Value:

  • What is a potential question you would like to study this year?(working EQ)
  • A potential question I'd like to study this year would revolve around dogs. But I would not mind focusing more on the organization itself such as:"What is the most efficient way an Animal Rescue Organization can achieve getting pets adopted?" Or something like "What are the contributing factors that make an Animal Rescue Organization successful?" Or " What is the best way an Animal Rescue Organization can provide the proper care for a rescued dogs needs?" As of now these are still fairly broad and am not sure which direction I want to go in.
  • What do you plan to do for mentorship? If you haven't found a mentor yet, then discuss where you are currently looking and who you are talking to, to find it.
  • For my mentorship I have already started to volunteer at Priceless Pets Rescue in Chino Hills, so I am already set.
