Pittie Fest 2013!

This previous Saturday Priceless Pets Rescue put on a festival to not only raise money for the animals at the shelter. But also to raise awareness about Breed Specific legislation. Breed specific legislation is a ban on dogs considered "dangerous" to the community. Even though its often the owners whom are to blame. They especially wanted to inform the public of the misconception related to pit bulls.

I was able to work at the festival. I was in charge of two booths. One was a free game for children, where if they made plastic skulls into the basket they won candy. The second thing I was in charge of was a "guess the bones" game. It was a dollar per guess, and if you were able to correctly guess the number you won the jar and all the bones inside it. All in all, it was a very good experience being part of the festival.

Blog 8: Research and Working EQ

1.) EQ and Awnser

"What is the best way to have a successful fundraiser for a no kill animal rescue?"
  • One possible answer is that the seller must be personal. It helps if the person is personal because it increases the chances of someone donating/buying for your cause. Mainly because they feel comfortable instead of obligated.
2.) What is the most important source that you have used that has helped you come up with an awnser to your working EQ?

Based on personal experience from selling at fundraising events at my church and by selling at the cart mart at school, being resulted in more productive sales.

3) Who is your mentor, or where are you volunteering, and how does what you're doing relate to your working EQ?

I am volunteering at Priceless Pets Rescue in Chino Hills. My mentor is Barbara, one of the supervisors/volunteers who is in charge of the fundraising of the organization. Volunteering at Priceless Pets Rescue allows me to work with the animals as well as participate in upcoming events or fundraisers which is a huge part of my EQ.

Blog 7:Independent Component 1 Approval

1. For my independent component, for now I plan on just doing an extra 30 hours at my mentorship. At my mentorship, I clean up the dog kennels, walk the dogs, wash the dogs, wash their bedding, sweep up the area, play with the dogs, give them basic training and attend mobile adoptions Saturdays at either Petco or Petsmart (depending on which Saturday of the month) in Chino Hills.

2.  To prove that I am doing 30 hours of evidence I will post a picture in the log every time I am working on it in "one sitting" (Could be from 2 pm to 4 pm and would have the picture next to in in log). Pictures would be a big part of my evidence but I could also take video of events occurring or even as I am working with the dogs.

3. My idea for independent component will help me explore my topic more in depth because on top of the usual hours for mentorship I will also be doing an additional 30. Allowing me to get more experience on my topic.
