Blog 22: Senior Project Reflection

1. Positive Statement
What are you most proud of in your Block Presentation and/or senior project? Why?

  • From my Block Presentation I am most proud of the fact that I was able to make time. Aside from that I was very proud that I gave a lot of examples/pictures in my power point to help the students understand. I was also proud that the students were able to use their phones during my activity, as it probably stood out to them. Also I really liked giving the little goodie bags with Scooby Doo Graham crackers (kind of irrelevant but I thought they were cute!).
  • From my overall senior project I am very proud that I came into senior year not knowing what I would focus on and yet I picked a topic I really came to enjoy. Most people dislike there topic, but im proud to tell people what I focused on for 9 months.
2. Questions to Consider
A. What assessment would you give yourself on your block presentation?

  • P
B. What assessment would you give yourself on your overall senior project?

  • P
3. What worked for you in your senior project?

  • For me, having time to do research checks in class was very helpful. It was time given to develop answers and although it seemed like a drag at the time, looking back it really helped me out for senior project. Another thing was advisory meetings. These blocks really helped in giving tips on your senior presentation as the teacher would tell you what they were looking for.

4. What didn't work? If you had a time machine to go back in time, what would you have done differently to improve your senior project?

  • To improve my senior project I would have finished my independent component 1 hours much sooner. I had to turn then in a week later so I was not able to get a P but instead I got an AP.

5. (Finding Value) How has the senior project been helpful to you in your future endeavors? Be specific and use examples.

  • Senior project has been very helpful because it forced me to get out of my comfort zone. When I was first looking for a pkace to mentor at, I didn't even like the idea of calling an organization to see if they had available volunteer opportunities. From early on I had to call multiple organizations and explain the situation I was in. I had to get over my fear of talking to people I didn't know. This was especially seen throughout my whole mentorship experience.  I have met a variety of people and it has helped develop a memorable senior year filled with new experiences I wouldnt have thought to do otherwise.

Blog 16:Advisory Meeting #2

EQ:"What is the best way to raise funds for a nonprofit animal rescue?"
Answer #2 (Write in a complete sentence like a thesis statement)*By having an active and variety of social media accounts, for a chance for people to "follow"your organization.
3 details to support the answer (a detail is a fact and an example)
  • Source:Interview #3-  Lisa stated that the biggest factor to contributing on how to get people to attend events is through social media account. Example: Priceless Pets Rescue raised $1600 in one night, through a food fundraiser by putting it all over their Facebook and Instagram.
  • Source: Mentorship- At mentorship, Priceless Pets rescue uses social media account to request donations of items needed for the organization. Example: Often they will request medicine, bleach, towels and blankets and will receive donations the next day.
  • Source: Council of Nonprofits- By driving traffic to your social media pages, you build awareness and possible donors to your nonprofit organization. Example: Instagram page.
Concluding Sentence:
Using a social media is a great way to raise awareness of your mission and possible fundraisers that will lead potential donors to donate.

Blog 13: Lesson 2 Refletion

1. Positive Statement:
From my lesson 2 presentation, I am most proud of my Powerpoint. I was finnally able to put transitions in and make pictures fade in and out as I am speaking. I also liked that I was able to get real examples from different nonprofit organizations to support my answer

2.Self Assessment:
I would give myself a P. I did what was required for a P and I think that is what I deserve.

3.What Worked?
What worked for me in lesson 2, was having the the timer in the back of the room to know how much time I need left.

4.What didn't work?
I would not change anything to my presentation.

5. Answer 2?
For my 2nd answer, I think I will either do having social media sites so people interested in your organization can track your progress or partnering up with other local small businesses to spread information of the organization.
